History

Aeronautical Software Developments (ASD) was founded in 1996 to provide solutions to Procedure Designers that utilize either ICAO PANS-OPS or FAA TERPS procedure design criteria. The first iteration of the PDToolKit product was a graphical software toolkit for ICAO PANS-OPS designers on the Bentley MicroStation CAD platform. In early 2000, a second generation of PDToolKit was released and was developed using Microsoft ActiveX technology. This allowed different CAD systems to be used as the graphical engine allowing PDToolKit to be distributed in the Autodesk AutoCAD and Bentley MicroStation platforms.

Using CAD products, PDToolKit benefited from high performance graphics display and a worldwide established industry standard of DWG and DGN file types.

An aviation calculator was added to PDToolKit in early 2002 to assist customers with their designs. This tool is Windows based and can be used outside of the CAD domain.

In 2008, the third generation of PDToolKit was born, re-designed with a new interface and developed using the latest technology from Microsoft. Microsoft’s .NET Framework is a complete and expanding platform for modern applications.

For over 20 years, ASD has provided quality tools for procedure designers that not only keep up with the ever changing aviation industry but provided more effective ways to design instrument procedures and reduce cost. Today, ASD is an established software company in the aeronautical market place with solutions being used all over the world.
